Sweden

CNG and natural gas vehicles were introduced on the Swedish market in 1995. Today 14 years later there are about 100 gas filling stations in the country and more then 20 000 gas driven private cars running on the streets. In many Swedish cities and towns the bus fleets are driven entirely on gas. Biomethane and its environmental advantages has from the beginning been a driving force in the development of the market for gas vehicles in Sweden. Today biomethane makes up about 60% of the gas sold as vehicle fuel in the country.

Through MADEGASCAR, the three Swedish partners have worked for and contributed to a further development of the market for gas driven vehicles and biomethane in their regions, Skåne, Mälardalen and Southeast Sweden. Below you find more information on the market situation and the results of the Madegascar project in the regions.
